Common battery categories

1. Primary battery, primary battery: refers to the device that generates current through REDOX reaction, also means that chemical energy is converted into electric energy and can not be rechargeable battery design, including lithium primary battery, carbon zinc-manganese battery and alkaline zinc-manganese battery;

2. Secondary battery, rechargeable battery, battery: refers to the reaction on the electrode is reversible, can be recharged to restore the active substance, so as to obtain the ability of regenerative discharge, to achieve multiple charge and discharge cycle use of batteries, such as lead-acid battery, lithium ion battery, nickel cadmium battery, nickel battery, etc.

4. Lithium manganese battery: refers to lithium-manganese dioxide battery, lithium primary battery with lithium metal as the negative electrode and manganese dioxide as the positive active substance, with high voltage, high specific energy, long service life, large capacity, high economy;

5. Lithium subbattery: refers to lithium-thionyl chloride battery, lithium primary battery with lithium metal as the negative electrode, liquid thionyl chloride (SOCl2) as the positive active substance, with low self-discharge rate, large capacity, long service life;

6. Lithium iron battery: refers to lithium - iron disulfide battery, lithium metal as a negative electrode, iron disulfide as a positive active material lithium battery, discharge, iron disulfide is reduced, lithium metal is oxidized;

7. Alkaline zinc-manganese battery: primary battery with manganese dioxide as positive electrode, zinc as negative electrode and potassium hydroxide solution as electrolyte, also known as alkaline manganese battery and alkaline battery;

8. Carbon zinc-manganese dioxide battery: neutral zinc-manganese dioxide dry battery refers to the primary battery with manganese dioxide and graphite rod as positive electrode, zinc cylinder as negative electrode, NH4Cl and ZnCl2 as electrolyte, also known as carbon battery and dry battery;

9. Lithium-ion battery: A type of secondary battery (rechargeable battery) that works mainly by moving lithium ions between the positive and negative terminals. In the process of charge and discharge, lithium ions are embedded and unembedded between the two electrodes. During charging, lithium ions are unembedded from the positive electrode and embedded into the negative electrode through the electrolyte, which is in a lithium-rich state. The opposite is true when discharging;

Nickel-cadmium battery: The secondary battery with nickel peroxide hydroxide as the positive electrode, cadmium compound as the negative electrode, potassium hydroxide and other alkaline aqueous solution as the electrolyte, has the characteristics of large current discharge, strong resistance to overcharge and discharge, simple maintenance, etc.
